Scrub Mountain boards was established in 2001, in a sleepy hollow in the south west of England. But this hollow was to sleep no longer… It soon became the test area for the best selling Mountain board company, Scrub. It’s harsh Wiltshire hills and organic woodlands have become a Mecca for downhill testing and development. And our famous kiteboarding spot Westbury Whitehorse is perfect for the Scrub team to develop the more kite specific mountain boards. At 1300 feet (396 metres) above sea level there is always a breeze here as it rolls off the Salisbury Plain army training area. The Scrub team can often be found on the horse testing and developing new land boards, with a superb view of the famous Scrub HQ, based in a retro Spitfire Hanger in the village below.
The Scrub team have just finished testing the new 2010 range of mountainboards, and they will be available at the end of March (ish) 2010 so strap in, pad up and shred some hills.
Bellow are some photos from our West Country workshops of early stages of board development for the 2010 mountainboard Range

We hope you enjoy riding this years range as much as we have making it and remember – Ride Hard, Ride Dirty!
Mountain Boarding - A History
Mountain Boarding arrived in the UK from the US where it was conceived by 2 avid snowboarders Patrick McConnell and Jason Lee in 1992 when they set up 'Mountain Board Sports LLC. They wanted to develop a board that enabled them to ride all year round and after some development the 'Mountain Board' was born. Mountain boarding is essentially snowboarding without snow, adding wheels and trucks to a deck similar to that of a snowboard and rolling it down a suitable downward slope or powering across the flat with a kite. Early mountain boards take the original snowboard binding so the rider is attached via ratchet straps to the board. Scrub developed pad straps to help with riders safety whilst keeping the rider in touch with what's going on on the ground.
Mountain boarding comes under many guises, all of which are fair game for naming the sport as there is no official title given to it. You may here the terms 'mountainboarding' 'landboarding' 'all terrain boarding' 'dirt boarding' and 'grass boarding' to name a few.
Scrub Mountain Boards came on to the scene in the UK in 2001 and has been at the forefront of mountain board development ever since. Scrub Mountain Boards produce the best range in the market and cater for all levels and age groups. Scrub have the first kids mountain board designed specifically for the younger rider so the innovation continues in 2010.
Mountain Boarding - Getting Started
Mountain boarding can be enjoyed by a huge range of active people as the 'mountain board learning curve' is a fast and steep one, with no prior knowledge of snowboarding or skateboarding required. Most mountain boarders become proficient in just a few hours on the more gentle slopes and can obtain mountain board competition standard in one year with enough practice.
