
One of the best things about mountainboarding is the people you meet, ride with and drink beers with. The first time I met Laurie Barnes was way back in 2003 when he was all full face helmets and body armour, killing it in the racing. Soon enough he traded his race kit in for a lovely white vest and a lazy skate style as he was going big and floaty over jumps whilst still finding time to race and beat the likes of Leon Robbins.
Nowadays, Laurie is all tie dye and evisu jeans, rides for Scrub and tries to flog T shirts from Thailand to pay for expensive festival food. Watch out, he will steal your beer.
